| State level taekwondo championship concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 24: Minister of state for power and CAPD Shabir Ahmad has said that the government was keen to promote sports activities in the State by creating adequate sports infrastructure at block and district levels.
Addressing the closing ceremony of state level taekwondo championship held at indoor stadium Srinagar, he said during past few years a number of playfields, stadiums and other related infrastructure has been created across the state. Appreciating organizers of the state level event, Minister said that such competitions would go a long way in exploring hidden talent of our youth and help them refine their skills.
Minister said that under the leadership of Omar Abdullah focused attention was being given to ensure all round development of the state. Minister enjoined upon the players to prepare themselves for participating at national and international level games and brought laurels for the state.
The three day State level championship was organized by taekwondo association which is technique of unarmed compact for self defence developed by Korean in which eight teams participated. Budgam team won first prize, Srinagar second and Bandipora Third. Minister distributer momentous among the winners and runner of teams besides also participant players. Final match was witnessed hundreds of peoples.
