BJP to raise public issues in budget session | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 24: BJP would take up many issues pertaining to the problems facing the people, moreso that of the security of the state and unity of the country in the ensuing budget session of the state assembly starting from February 28 disclosed Chaman Lal Gupta BJP Legislators Party leader. Raising suspicion over the motives of ruling NC-Led Congress Government Gupta said, earlier government announced that three would be three assembly sessions and in the manner in which this budget session has been called”. Meanwhile Gupta said, “ this session would have special significance because after disputing the finality of the Accession issue, the state government did not permit the hoisting of the tri-colour of the country at Lal Chowk, Srinagar and the national figures including even the leaders of opposition viz Sushma Swaraj of Lok Sabha and Arun Jaitley of the Rajya Sabha, were so shabbily treated that they were not allowed even to enter in this capital city of Jammu to address a Republic Day gathering. BJP standbys its demand that either Omar Abdullah makes apolgy for the utterances made at floor terming the accession of J&K with India is not final or should resign for his post. No reversal of the integration process would be tolerated”. He further said, “The other issues of burning nature which would be raised including that of unemployment, soaring prices, neglect of farmers, ex-servicemen and other sections of the society. As unemployed Physiotherapists and Agricultural technocrats are sitting on Dharna for seeking employment”. “Besides this the issue of discrimination against Jammu and Ladakh would also be raised vigorously. BJP will also raise the issue of inordinate delay in functioning of Jammu Central University ” Gupta also took a strong exception to the manner in which the team of Interlocutors conducted itself and also the constitutional propriety of the State Chief Minister briefing the Interlocutors about the measures initiated by him to implement the recommendations made in the report, as claimed by Mr. Padgoankar and his other two colleagues yesterday. “The question of rehabilitation of migrants and grant of citizenship rights to refugees from West Pakistan and POK. The other matters would also include seeking of political reservation for Gujjar-Bakerwals and empowerment of the basic democracies”, added Gupta. Gupta also said, “The squandering of public money to appease the activists of the two ruling parties by creating extra-constitutional posts such Vice Chairman’s of various Boards, would also be raised that how political corruption has touched new heights and the employees and poor workers are being denied even that what was promised.” MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria said, “Consumers in Kashmir get 50 kg ration while those from Jammu are entitled for 35 kgms only but unfortunately just 17-20 kg ration is relased for them per month. Is not it a glaring example of discrimination with Jammu and this issue is related to every Jammuite and will be taken up in the forthcoming budget session of the assembly strongly”. MLA Marh Ch. Suknandan said, “Govt. has spent lakhs of rupees in holding Kissan Mela, but nobody is paying attention to the severe problem to the standing wheat crop. If nothing is done in this regard in next ten days, it may damage the crop. Also one again the non-availability of Fertlisers, DAP and Urea will also be raised in the assembly session”. Master Lal Chand MLA Bani said, “Bani constituency is having very poor road connectivity. Bani is blessed with natural beauty, nothing has been done to promote tourism in the area. This will also be raised in ensuing assembly session”. Other MLA’s including Durga Dass, Garu Ram Bhagat, Bharat Bushan also spoke during the media brifing. Jugal Kishore and Sham Chowdhary were also present on the ocasssion.
