Semis line-up drawn in Friendship Cup

JAMMU, Feb 24: Semifinals position has been cleared in the ongoing J&K Police Friendship Cup (T20) Cricket Tournament with the entry of JU VC XI, DGP XI, Governor XI and Simula Sports Club in the last four stages at University of Jammu grounds, here today.
Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow, DGP XI shall meet Governor XI while JU VC XI has been pitted against Simula XI.
Bilowria, Vishal scripts JU VC XI win
First class cricketer and Law student, Amit Bilowria and Vishal Sudan together pushed JU VC XI through to the semi-finals winning a crucial group match today.
While Amit hit a splendid 91, Vishal claimed five important wickets to guide their side to a 18 runs win against Aircel XI.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, VC XI set a challenging target of 189 runs for the loss of four wickets, which, in reply, Aircel could not chase and the whole side bowled out for 171 runs in 19.1 overs.
Amit, who hit the opponent bowlers hard, hit five sixes and seven fours in his 91-run knock. Apart from Bilowria, Sunil Sharma, Rajesh Kumar and Vishal chipped in with 25, 20 and 18 runs respectively. Rajesh Kumar, in particular was harsh on bowlers. He hit two sixes and a boundary in his 20 runs knock. From Aircel XI, Irshad and Shabir took one wicket each.
Later, Aircel XI put in great efforts to chase the target but fell short of 17 runs to match the opponent total and the innings ended at 171 runs in 19.1 overs. Arshad (56), Ali (30) and Manzoor (28) remained main scorers. Vishal Sudan was wrecker-in-chief from VC XI with five important wickets. Ameet and Daud shared apiece each.
SKAUST XI beat DD XI by 3 wkts
In another group match of the day, SKAUST XI defeated Director Doordarshan (DD) XI by three wickets in a low scoring match.
Batting first, DD XI made 128 for the loss of five wickets. In reply, SKAUST XI chased the target in 19.4 overs losing seven wickets thus won the match by three wickets.
Today’s matches were officiated by Sudhir Singh, Harbinder Singh, Naresh Kumar and Yogesh Gupta.
