J&K govt non-serious in solving basic problems of people: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT REASI, Feb 24: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded adequate compensation for the farmers whose land were acquired for the construction of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. Addressing a public meeting at village Kakriyal, near Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that 10 years have passed after authorities acquired land from the farmers but the promises are yet to be fulfilled. He said that there is feeling among farmers that they were cheated by the authorities. Lambasting National Conference led coalition for its failure to provide good governance to the residents of this state, he said that wrong policies being adopted by the NC led government have proved disastrous for the state. Speaking on the occasion, senior party leader Ved Mahajan said that state has plunged into unprecedented crises due to wrong policies of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah During the last two years, this regime has done nothing to solve basic problems of the common masses, he said and added that instead of fulfilling the commitment, the government has been trying to hoodwink the people by raking up non serious issues. Partap Sharma, Rafiq Malik, Bharat Kumar, Sunil Saini, Mohammad Rashid, Gopal Sharma, Anil Sharma and others addressed the meeting which was organized by Bharat Kumar. Earlier, Gopal Sharma along with his supporters joined PDP.
