Natrang celebrating Golden Jubilee of ‘Ghumayee’

Jammu, Feb 24: Natrang is going to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ with its 50th performance on Sunday 27th of February, at 5 pm at Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
This was informed here today by the Natrang Director Balwant Thakur in a press briefing held at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu.
This Golden Jubilee performance is brought to the Jammu audience by AIRCEL. The entry to the show as a special case has been kept free.
. Madhav Lal, Chief Secretary has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Inspired from a Dogri folk tale, Balwant Thakur has converted this into a compelling theatrical wonder and is regarded as one of the most celebrated theatre production of the post India-Independence period which has been critically acclaimed as theatrical wonder of world class.
It was first produced in the year 2001 and over the years the play has grown and acquired that excellence level that it has the honor of having performed in Russia, Germany, Hungary and Poland and lately in the Commonwealth Games-2010 and ICCR’s Horizon 2010.
Within India this play has been featured in over fifteen National theatre festivals. Prominent among them include, Bharat Rang Mahotsav of National School of Drama (New Delhi), National Awards Festival of Sangeet Natak Akademi (New Delhi), Nandikar’s National Theatre festivals of 2003 and 2005 (Kolkata), Nehru Centre’s National Theatre Festival (Mumbai), Tata Theatre’s National Theatre Festival (Mumbai), Vivechena’s National Theatre Festival (Jabalpur), Rang Sangam of Sangeet Natak Akademi (Bhuvneshwar), Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi’s National Theatre Festival (Chandigarh), Manch Rangmanch’s National Theatre festival (Amritsar), Kerala Cultural Affairs National Theatre Festival (Thiruvanthapuram). and Kollam National Theatre Festival (Kollam-Kerla)
