2/25/2011 8:36:59 AM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 24: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s twitter account seems to be virtually making news for everything. In the latest instant, Omar had sought suggestions and recommendations for buying a 50 inch LCD/Plasma television for his official residence at New Delhi.
Omar tweeted on February 23 and within minutes received responses from all those who have been following him closely on Twitter. More interesting is the fact that Omar responded to every tweet within seconds. One Megha Sharma suggested Omar not to put extravagant shopping plans on twitter since he is Chief Minister of a state in India.
Omar responded and wrote “I'm buying a TV not a Rolls Royce or a Gulf Stream jet. What's extravagant about a 46 inch TV?” Another twitter follower of Omar advised sought to know about the place where he was intending to place the LCD. He wrote “Is it "place" or "palace"? Omar tweeted back “very much a place and that too sarkari.”
Fida Iqbal suggested Omar to buy Weston LCD. He wrote Weston-i know only about that brand from my childhood-No, further metamorphosis. Omar responded and while thanking Fida write “Yes, I had a Weston TV & Weston TV games as well. Damn good fun in those days.”
Finally, another twitter follower of Omar Shahnaz opined Omar to actually sift through thousands of opinions by tweeters and then decide which TV to purchase. To this tweet, Omar tweeted back “Yup, and so far it's looking like a Sony LCD Bravia.” Another one opined Omar to visit Bangkok, have a sandwich massage and bring a TV.
Omar replied and advised this tweet follower to go to Bangkok, enjoy the massage and bring the TV back for him. NDTV’s Vikram Chandra advised Omar to buy an LED informing him that Samsung one is good. Calling him Gadget guru, Omar thanked Vikram and then without further prolonging the debate over twitter, Omar ended the same saying “Thanks, have got all the advice I needed on the TV matter and some I didn't need as well.”
