| Budha Amarnath yatra resumes | | | Jammu, July 29: Pilgrimage to the Budha Amarnath shrine in Poonch district resumed this morning after remaining suspended for a day due to landslides.
The landslides, which blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway due to heavy rains at Chokichora area in Rajouri were cleared and the stranded 567 pilgrims left for the shrine, official sources said.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 503 pilgrims today left here for the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas despite inclement weather.
Today's batch, comprising 264 men, 49 women, two children and 188 sadhus, have left in a fleet of 16 vehicles from the base camp of Mam stadium here early this morning, they said.
The vehicles carrying yatris had already crossed Batote and are expected to reach to their destinations at Baltal and Pahalgam by this evening, they said adding the yatra was moving smoothly despite rains lashing some areas along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
