Omar tweets over power deficit bill, budget proposals | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has now tweeted on the state budget sharing his concern over the burgeoning power deficit bill and interest payments. Chairing a high level meeting with his cabinet colleagues to discuss this years budget proposals Omar Abdullah shared few hair raising figures with his followers clearly indicating that he is finding it difficult to carry forward his developmental agenda as very little amount of money is left after paying a hefty salary bill of 14,700 crores. In his specific tweet Omar said, " Interest payments 2360 Crs & power deficit 1500 Crs. Where's the money for anything else" He started by writing, "Now chairing the Budget Cabinet session to discuss proposals for this year's annual budget. Salary & pensions for next year 14,700 Crores". If it is assumed that the figures shared by the Chief Minister present a clear picture of this years budget it also throws a light on the working of the Power development development. Last year the state finance minister had kept a sum of over 2050 for the purchase of power. If at the end of the year the state chief minister is hinting at a power deficit of rs 1500 crore it clearly means that the recoveries have not recorded an upward trend and remains one of the biggest headache for the policy makers in the state as it drains major chunk of the funds. Official sources said over the years the total revenue collected from theJammu region have recorded a huge jump while amount of recovery from the Kashmir region remain exceptionally low and no one in the state government have the magic wand to boost the revenue figures to bridge the widening gap .
