JCC to protests outside Assembly on Mar 7 | | | Early Times Report Jammu Feb 25 : The Joint Consultative Committee, an amalgam of various employees unions in Jammu and Kashmir, Friday announced to hold a protest rally outside Assembly in Jammu a day before budget would be presented on March 8. The decision was taken after a meeting of JCC leaders in Jammu in which EJAC (K) president, Khurshi Alam and EJAC (Q) president, Abdul Qayoom Wani participated. Sources told that it was decided in the meeting it was decided that agitation would be intensified in coming days and in first phase a strong protest would be held outside the Assembly on March 7. The JCC leaders asked the government to shun its dilly-dallying tactics and fulfill the employees’ genuine demands including release of pay commission arrears and 10 per cent DA and raising of retirement age to 60. Senior leader of JCC and EJAC (K) chairman, Khurshid Alam told Kashmir News Service that to break the silence of government over the genuine demands of employees, ‘it was decided that new state wide agitation would be launched.’ “Government is forcing employees to come on roads. Employees are demanding their rights which are being denied to them. Instead of paying the employees their due, brute force is being used against them when they protest,” he said. Alam said that all tehsil level employee leaders would sit on a darhna outside the Assembly on March 7. Senior leader of JCC and EJAC (Q) chairman, Abdul Qayoom Wani said that government has left no option for employee ‘but to come on roads.’
