| Sky rocketing prices of walnut | | Festival of Mahashivratri | | Early Times Report
Jammu,feb25: the high prices of various essentials of Mahashivratri a famous festival of Hindus particularly of “ Kashmiri Pandits” has compelled kashmiri pandits to celebrate it in a simple way , as the prices of “walnuts” has touched new heights , important item used in puja by pandit community .
General secretary of Roop nagar welfare committee . P.K. Pershi in a statement issued to the press here today has appealed to the J&K government to arrange walnuts for kashmiri pandits at cheaper rates. These walnuts he said ,are sold at selected shops so that pandits community the festival in a nice way .
Meanwhile Kashmir Hindu Conference in a statement has urged upon the community members to make economic use of the walnuts during the holy festival , as the J&K govt has ignored the community even on their holy festivals, which include “Maha-Shivratri” celebrated in the since time immemorial.
