| 172 cheques distributed under HMNH scheme at Akhnoor | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, February 25: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma today distributed 172 cheques amounting to Rs. 20 lakh among the progressive farmers of Akhnoor Block.
The cheques have been given for Area expansion under the centrally sponsored scheme- Horticulture Mission of North East and Himalayan States ( HMNH). Of these, 20 cheques were given for Area expansion under District Plan and one cheque for creation of water sources under RKVY.
The Minister distributed cheques at a mega farmer’s awareness camp, workshop- cum- seminar organized by Department of Horticulture Jammu.
Over 500 farmers of far flung areas of Akhnoor block participated in the camp and were familiarized about the schemes run by the department for the welfare of agriculturists.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal urged the farmers to work for the survival of fruit saplings and take scientific steps for enhancing the produce by adopting modern technologies. He said 2nd and 3rd installments will be given on the prescribed percentage of survival of plants. He said the main objective of this scheme was to make the people self-reliant and improve their economic conditions.
