| GDCPSS demanded the retention of degree college at Block Bhalwal | | | Early Times Report Jammu, February 25: Government Degree College Paloura Sangharsh Samiti (GDCPSS) opposed the move of the state government to shift the Degree College from Block Bhalwal to Block Jhiri here today.
Addressing a press conference, GDCPSS members protested against the government’s move and alleged that there is a vacant government land of more than 500 canals in their area which is good enough to have a degree college there. The members stated that their block has a population to about 5 lakhs and many adjoining villages can take advantage if the college would be build in their block. Moreover, the Mahantt of Jhiri area has also sent a request to Governor for prohibiting the construction of the college at Jhiri as the land which is proposed by the state government for the use of Degree College is already used there for the devotees. In the proposed request letter he has also explained that the site is already shorting of the land and if the college would be constructed the yearly devotees would not feel comfortable. GDCPSS demanded that the state government should shift the college to the Block Bhalwal for its good and effective functioning or they will protest against the government.
