PDP to devise strategy on Feb 27 | Budget session | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Feb 25: Main opposition PDP is yet to decide whether its MLAs and MLCs would remain present during the Governor's address to the budget session of the state legislature or would boycott it. The two houses of the stat legislature are to meet from February 28 in Jammu. According to the party General secretary Dillawar Mir, “Legislators will meet in Jammu on Sunday and decide whether to boycott the Governor's address or not.” In reply to a question Mir said "if we boycott Governor's address, it will not against N.N.Vohra but against the wrong policies of state government." Mir said that the address to be read out by the Governor reflects the working of the state government and since "we are dissatisfied with the performance of the government; we shall continue to adopt the role of constructive opposition." Asked whether the PDP planned to move some resolution and bills during the budget session of the state legislature Mir said "We have not finalized our strategy because we have been busy with the preparations for the Saturday r ally in Srinagar." He said that one thing was definite that the PDP would raise various issues concerning people of the state. While highlighting people’s problems, PDP added that it will expose various commissions of the government. "Violations of human rights by government agencies will be one of the issues that we are going to raise on the floor of the House,” he said. Mir said "We will utilize the question and zero hours on demanding immediate resolution of the Kashmir issue which alone is Key to peace in the troubled state." Asked whether the PDP planned to have some understanding with other opposition parties on the forthcoming election to six seats in the Legislative Council, Mir said "We will discuss it at the appropriate time. It is too early to frame our strategy on the issue.” He said that they will highlight failures of the government and focus on its poor performance and lack of transparency in its functioning which had compounded the problem of unemployment.
