Jammu terrorism affected rue government’s apathy

Jammu, Feb 26: Intensifying their struggle, the terrorism affected people of Jammu region today held a demonstration before Raj Bhawan in protest against the Government’s apathetic attitude towards them.
Addressing the protesters on dharna Mohd.Farooq Mir (ex-MLA) chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf, while lambasting the government said that militancy victims of Jammu region are treated as B-grade citizens & by ignoring them ,govt. has murdered the militancy affected people of Jammu.
He said inspite of the rulings made by Supreme Court of India to provide relief to the migrants of Jammu province at par with Kashmiri migrants, the
state government has ignored the same & nothing has been done for the migrants of Jammu region.
The state and the central governments had not implemented the Supreme Court's order, and this had resulted in starvation of at least 12,000 families of migrants at various camps & cities in Jammu region as about 8 lakh people hailing from Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Ramban, Doda,Kishtwar and Udhampur are highly affected.
Mir said hundreds of cases under SRO-43 are still pending in govt offices and instead of providing justice to the affected families the govt has back stabbed the militancy victims of Jammu province by issuing an official letter to District Development Commissioners on 27-1-2009 having official letter. No:-GAD(mtg)27-1-2009 in which it has been mentioned that " An affected family ( whose member is killed by
terrorists) having income more-then Rs.5000 will not get Rs 5Laks as compensation under the provisions of SRO-43..
Aslam Kohli President of Tehreek-e-Insaf addressing the protesters made a scathing attack on the state Government accusing it of failure in granting the relief to the militancy affected people from Jammu region at par with Kashmiri migrants.
Criticizing the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram he blamed him for not bothering to hear the pain of the hapless people. He said eight lakh people have been affected by terrorism in Jammu region and they have altogether been ignored by Government.
