Students’ seminar organized; computer literacy camp inauagurated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 26: Dept. of Chemistry of Govt. Degree College Udhampur, in connection with the ongoing International year of Chemistry (IYC-2011) organised an inter- college student seminar on Chemistry entitled “Our Future- Our Life” in collaboration with Dept. of Science and Technology under Science Popularisation Scheme to develop science culture among the youth. The competition was presided over by the principal N. K Resutra. In his address he lauded the efforts of department to provide a platform to the students to deliberate upon this issue of importance. “It is also a tribute to Marie Curie for her contribution in the field of chemistry and it also provides us an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of women in the field of science,”he added. He also implored upon the trainees of the computer literacy programme to avail the maximum of the opportunities available. Kewal Kumar, programme coordinator in his welcome address highlighted the importance of international year of chemistry saying that IYC-2011 provides an opportunity to embrace chemistry’s important contribution to sustainability and improvement of quality of the lives . He appealed the students to register and participate in Global Water Experiment from 22nd march the biggest ever chemistry experiment which will explore of earths most vital resources, water.
