| Programme on biodiversity conservation | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 26: An informative programme on biodiversity conservation was held at S.R.P. Model High School in zone Bhalwal here today.
It has been stated that International Union of Nature Conservation (IUCN) has declared year 2010-11 as the year of biodiversity conservation. NEAC is a joint environment education project of ministry of environment and forest, WWF-India, state education department and partner NGO’s in the state.
In this programme, four schools of Bhalwal educational zone participated. Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Sudhir Mahajan and Guest of honour was Retd. Master Mohan Lal Sharma. Other Dignitaries on the occasion were Om Parkash Sharma, P.C. Sharma and Baljit Singh. Various events were held like slogan, painting, poster making and a play based on ‘Save Environment’ under the Direction of Vikram Khatri was also Staged under the banner of Samooh Theatre.
About 20 students of various schools participated and those who stood first, second and third were Kirti Sharma, Latif Mohammed and Abhay Sharma. Prizes and award certificates were distributed by the Chief Guest Dr. Sudhir Mahajan. Vote of thanks was presented by Chairman of the School Suresh Chander Sharma.
