JAMMU, Feb 26: Vigilance and monitoring committee meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Member Parliament (MP) Madan Lal Sharma and MP Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency Choudhary Lal Singh.
Meeting was also attended by the vice-chairman of schedule caste advisory board Swarn Lata and representatives of various non governmental organizations. In the meeting, various centrally sponsored schemes like MGNREGA, SGSY, DRDA, PMGSY, ARWSP, NSAP, IAY were discussed.
Mr Madan Lal Sharma highlighted the need of generating more and more awareness among the masses regarding the benefits of these schemes and thereby directed the district administration to organize awareness camps in every zone. He also exhorted upon the concerned agencies to bring more and more roads under the ambit of PMGSY so as to provide increased connectivity in the rural areas.
Vice-chairman SC Advisory Board Swarn Lata and MPs also advised the district administration to be more proactive in dealing with cases of Widow and old age pension schemes and provision of Drinking water to the areas. Others present in the meeting were ADDC Anil Gupta, Superintending engineers of various engineering wings and concerned district officers.
