Panthers for amendment in Panchayat act

JAMMU, Feb 26: Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has demanded introduction of amendments in the present Panchayat Act and establishing separate assemblies for the provinces.
Addressing a meeting of the provincial committee (Jammu provience), former MLA Faqir Nath said that series of protests would be organised across the region for the reorganization of the state.
Nath said that government should incorporate 73rd and 74th amendments in the Constitution of India which has empowered the Panches, Sarpanches and councilors to work independently without any interference by the ruling parties so that people in the rural areas are empowered at the grass-root level. Party has also demanded immediate Delimitation of the Constituencies as has been done in the rest of the country.
Those who attended the gathering include, Mohd. Rafiq Shah , Jagdev Singh, Raghubir Singh Biloria, Paramjeet Singh Marshall and Khajoor Singh.
