Sayed seeks Pak's cooperation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR Feb 26: Pakistan too must extend a helping hand in shaping a final and lasting solution to the festering Kashmir problem. We appreciate the concerns of Pakistan over the river waters flowing from our state into that country. No one in this state or rest of the country would like Pakistan to become a dessert. What we need is joint projects that would help J&K as well, a sharing of natures bounties and benefits that flows out of it. There are voices of moderation in that country that need to be listened to by the Pakistani establishment and the peace constituency in this country. Together we can script a new destiny for the South Asian region. If Kashmir has been a source of discord let it through sincere and substantial measures be converted into the epicentre of peace and friendship. The two countries will have to move in tandem to lift the siege around J&K and facilitate our regaining of dignity, political rights and economic potential. Let our youth be freed from physical shackles, mental blocks and employment worries by creating an atmosphere of hope and reconstruction across LOC. Let no more generations of Kashmiris suffer from a tampered geography and unkind history. |
