| CONG, BJP workers gearing up for show of strength | | | Jammu, November 12 After the organizers of the Congress rally in Anantnag failed to muster enough crowd to please Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during a rally on Saturday, congress leaders in Jammu region are determined to put up a big show for November 19 party rally here in Jammu. A day after, BJP under the leadership of newly elected state Chief would also take out Rashtriya sankalp yatra to expose policies of Congress lead UPA and state government here inthe state. The party managers have already directed senior congress leaders and legislators to galvanise their resources for making the public rally in Jammu a great success. “We donot want to repeat another Anantnag here in Jammu where CM had to skip the meet at a last moment as party workers failed to garner enough people to attend the rally, a congress MLA said. Sources in the congress said, the party leadership is keen to project image of their Chief Minister in Jammu region and has plans to highlight Chief Ministers people-oriented policies, which includes his war against corruption and land grabbing besides his performacne during one year in office. Significantly, a day after the opposition party BJP, under its new leadership, has decided to hold rashtriya sankalp yatra to expose not only the central Government but the ruling coalition in Jammu and Kashmir for their “failure” to tackle Pakistan sponsored militancy. State BJP chief Ashok Khajuria said “we have to tell people that the Government has failed to give a free hand to the security forces which had resulted in the rise in the level of violence.”The BJP leadership is also critical of the central Government’s silence on what it calls “divisive” slogans of self-rule and restoration of greater autonomy being raised by the PDP and the National Conference. Both the Congress and the BJP leadership have asked their frontline activists to arrange bringing party supporters in large numbers in buses and trucks from rural areas to Jammu so that each organization could claim sizeable peoples’ support |
