| NSF continues protest against police action | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 27: Continuing protest against the alleged high handedness of police inside the Jammu University campus on February 19, the National Secular Forum (NSF) activists staged a demonstration.
The protesting students and scholars have been demanding enquiry into ‘illegal’ detention of NSF president Vikas Sharma and Jammu University Research Scholars Executive Association (JURSEA) president Rakesh Chib for four hours on February 19.
Shouting slogans against the police department and University administration, the protesting scholars and students led by state secretary NSF Sukhdev Singh also torched the effigy of Director General of Police (DGP).
A large number of students and scholars assembled in front of the fountain to protest against the alleged dictatorship of police personnel.
The protesters said University authorities must explain as to why and how the police initiated action against the students and scholars inside the campus at their own.
President NSF District Unit Sunny Babber, said that if there is no inquiry there will be continuous protests by the scholars and the students. And, University authorities would be responsible for that.
