Terrorism chapter over, beauty of Valley new projection: Imtiyaz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT ANANTNAG, Feb 27: Stating that the chapter of terrorism in the valley is over, film director Imtiyaz Ali said that beauty of the valley is the new chapter for Bollywood. Interacting with media persons at Pahalgam, Director Imtiyaz Ali, who is shooting his forthcoming venture ‘Rockstar’ in the picturesque locations of Valley said, "Kashmir is one of the most beautiful places in the world, which has been used as the background to weave tapestry of romance for quite a long time but from several years Kashmir has been projected in Hindi cinema in negative manner," "But in Hindi or South Indian cinema, it has always has been projected as the land which nourishes nurtures and allows love to bloom, prosper, and gravitate towards a long term relationship." he added. "Terrorism chapter in the valley is now over, as in recent times there were many projections on that like Lamha, Khamosh, Tahan that is way I am going to project the beauty and culture in my projection." he said He said that the film ‘Rockstar’ is a story of Kashmiri migrant girl, who leaves Kashmir and stays away from valley up to the age of 20, but she likes to come back again to valley as the situation has changed there and wants to marry a Kashmiri boy. The role of Kashmiri girl is played by actress Nargis and the role of Kashmiri boy is played by actor Ranbir Kapoor. The end of the story is set in Kashmir. Nargis and Ranbir Kapoor have totally transformed themselves into a Kashmiri girl and boy respectively. In terms of visuals, characters are dressed in phirans. "I have also used kashida embroidery and the silver threadwork typical of Kashmir to embellish Nargis’ suits and phirans. The fabric is mostly pashmina, silk blends and satin" he said. Besides, in the recent times as well, Lamha being the latest example the projection has been done with the objective to bring back the youth who have taken to terrorism related activities. The trend of projecting this development of Kashmir through the cinematic oeuvre was initiated by the fellow Kashmiri Vidhu Vinod Chopra who began a new interpretation of Kashmir through Khamosh which was probably the first film that had extensively used Dal Lake as the backdrop to weave a tapestry of murder mystery. He followed it up with Mission Kashmir which was again a tribute to the commitment of a Police Officer who /tried his level best to bring back a misguided youth back to the mainstream.
