Niaz demands improvement in health care facilities | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Bhaderwah, Feb 27: Former Minister and MLA Bhaderwah Mohammad Sharief Niaz has threatened to go on hunger strike if the government remained unconcerned over the demand for improving up healthcare facilities in the tehsil especially Sub-District Hospital Bhaderwah. After a visit of the Sub District Hospital, Bhaderwah here today, Niaz expressed his anguish over the fate of SDH, Bhaderwah where except for Block Medical Officer no other doctor was present while most of the doctors have left the station without leave. He said that wards and operation theatre were locked due to non-availability of doctors and other staff in the hospital. Niaz said that time and again he had taken up the issue of filling up of more than 100 vacant posts of doctors and opening up of Health centres at Panchayat level in hilly and backward Doda district. MLA said shortage of doctors in the hospital and dispensaries is worrisome and is resulting into loss of life and asked the government to immediately post doctors against the vacant posts especially posting of lady doctors in the rural areas. Niaz threatened to go on hunger strike if the government failed to take action on the demand for augmenting doctors’ strength in SDH, Bhaderwah within a weeks time.
