| RENAME JAMMU AS JAMBOO: YOGESH SAWHNEY | | | Jammu,November 12 Taking a cue from Karnataka where Banglore has been rechristened as Bengaluru, a senior Congress leader and a former Minister Mr Yogesh Sawhney has demanded that the name of Jammu should be changed to Jamboo as the city was founded by Raja Jambhulochan. Talking to newsmen in Jammu on Sunday Mr Sawhney demanded that the company bagh be rechristened as Pratap bagh and Government college for Wowen as Maharani Tara Devi college in order to pay respect to great Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh. He said that the Jammu city should be treated as a Heritage city so that various development programmes could be initiated with focus on preservation and conservation of various historiacal sites and monuments. Talking to mediamen Sawhney also presented his report card and listed developmental works carried out by him as public representative of the area.
He said, he fulfilled his promises and trying his level best to solve problems faced by people in his constituency at all levels. He said in the last four years he completed electrification of old city areas, relaying of worn out cables, water pipes, creation of parking lots. Upgradation of schools were given top priority to improve standard of education besides developing parks in old city, construction of attendant hall in SMGS hospital, construction of view points on circular road etc. |
