| Janipura PS SHO among 5 transferred | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU,Feb 27 : The zonal police headquarters today ordered the transfer of SHO of Janipura police station and four others, including three Inspectors.
Police sources said the order to this effect was issued late tonight.
Sources said SI Jaipal Pal Sharma was transferred to Rajouri-Poonch range, while Inspector Satish Kumar was transferred from Poonch to Jammu-Kathua range.
Domana police station SHO Zahid was transferred to crime branch.
Varinder Gupta was transferred from Udhampur-Reasi range to Rajouri-Poonch range.
SI Jaipal had in the recent past busted a fake gun licence racket operating in the region for the past few years.
Sources said his transfer order was issued by the zonal police headquarters at the instance of an influential gun dealer of Jammu who was also alleged to be part of the racket.
The involvement of several government officials, including a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), had figured in the racket.
Police investigation revealed that over 2,500 fake gun licences had been issued from Poonch and other areas. Against these licences, 450 guns had been sold by the influential gun dealer.
Sources said there was pressure on Jaipal to exclude the name of this influential gun dealer from the FIR. However, when he expressed his helplessness, the zonal police headquarters ordered his transfer. |
