Cheques worth Rs.1.70 lacs distributed among 17 widows under NFBS

UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 12
MLA Chenani, Mr. Faquir Nath distributed cheques worth Rs.1.70 lacs among 17 women beneficiaries at a women awareness camp of tehsil Chenani under National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS). The camp was organized by the Social Welfare Department, Udhampur at Chenani, yesterday. Sewing machines were also provided to 24 widows on the occasion.
Women from adjoining villages of tehsil Chenani like Bup, Sarar, Sudhmahadev, Tandar, Nagulta and Mada etc. also participated in the camp.
District Social Welfare Officer, Udhampur, Mr. Yash Paul Sharma, Tehsildar, Block Medical Officer and BDO Chenani, Councilors and prominent citizens were also present in the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA lauded the efforts of Social Welfare Department for organizing awareness camp aimed to educate poor and needy women about various schemes aimed at their socio-economic transformation. He called for organizing more such awareness camps in remote and inaccessible areas in order to extend benefits of these schemes to maximum number of beneficiaries. He also called upon the social workers and NGOs to identify the deserving cases so that department could extend all possible help to them.
District Social Welfare Officer while giving a brief resume of the activities of his department in the district under various state and centrally sponsored schemes aimed at for the welfare of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, economically poor, widows and handicapped asked the Sarpanches, Panches, NGOs and Social Workers to bring to the deserving cases in the notice of the department.
The District Social Welfare Officer also revealed that the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O.P. Kalandria who is chairman of District Level Sanction Committee, has accorded sanction to all the 2987 cases lying pending in the district for clearance.
