| NPSU protested against closing up of evening shift in colleges | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 28: Students of Evening Shift of GGM Science College and MAM College held a combined protest demonstration at Shaheedi Sthal Jammu against the order issued by state govt. for dispensing with the evening shift from all the colleges.
t is pertinent mention here that State Govt. issued an order to dispensing wit the Evening Shift Colleges (Jammu Division) from the academic session 2011 onward wide order no. 80 HE of 2011, dated 22-02-2011.
The protest was led Sanjay Sharma (Provincial Joint Secretary NPSU) under the banner of National Panther Students Union (NPSU).
Addressing the gathering Sharma said that the State Govt. was forced to open the evening colleges after a historical agitation by the students of Jammu in 2000 during which hundreds of the students including female students were arrested and kept in illegal custody but State Govt. failed to pacify these students.
Now after a long gap of 11 years State Govt. has issued orders to closed these colleges which is a conspiracy against the students of Jammu region who are taking benefits of these colleges by taking admission in these colleges.
The activists of NPSU also burnt the effigy of Tanveer Jehan (Commissioner Secretary to Govt. Mig. Education Department) against order issued by her for closing the evening shift colleges of Jammu province.
They also condemned the cane charges by police on peacefully protesting agricultural, technocrats at Press Club Jammu.
