Sufi sworn in J&K’s first CIC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 28: Governor N. N. Vohra, administered oath of office to Ghulam Rasool Sufi as the Jammu and Kashmir’s first state Chief Information Commissioner at a function held at Raj Bhavan, here this evening. Governor wished Sufi successful tenure as state Chief Information Commissioner. Chief Minister (CM) Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Arvinder Singh,. Mehbooba Mufti, Mohammed Yousuf Taing, Madhav Lal, B. B. Vyas, R. K. Goyal, Mohammed Sayeed Khan and senior officers of the income tax department were prominent among those present at the oath ceremony. Sufi did M.A.(Political Science) from Aligarh Muslim University in 1975, M. Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1977 and MBA from Hull University, United Kingdom (Sponsored by the Government of India under the Colombo Plan) in 1998. Born in Srinagar on April 13, 1951, he was selected for the Indian Revenue Services in 1977. He has held various assignments in the Income Tax Department and was promoted as the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in January 2010.
