Trade facilities at Salamabad, Chakan-da-Bagh reviewed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 28: Chief Secretary Madhav Lal has asked the concerned departments to complete infrastructure works at trade facilitation centres of Salamabad (Uri) and Chakan-da-Bagh (Poonch) within six months so that traders do not face any difficulty. Chairing a meeting to review the progress on raising facilities for traders at these two places, Chief Secretary asked for submitting detailed status report from the Deputy Commissioners of Baramulla and Poonch within a couple of days in this regard. Meeting was told that the Centre has released a grant of Rs. 10 crore each for raising trading infrastructure including cargo halls, examination hall, quarantine unit, truck scanning, offices of custodian, customs, security etc at Salamabad and Chakan-da-Bagh. During the meeting, Chief Secretary spoke to Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla through video conferencing and inquired about the problems being faced by the local traders. He asked the Deputy Commissioner to look into the problems and prioritize the things to be done in an integrated manner. The meeting was told that through the Salamabad Trade Centre, 4700 trucks were received from Pakistan while as 4900 Indian trucks went across so far. Present in the meeting were Principal Secretary, Home, B. R. Sharma, Commissioner Secretary Industries, Umang Narula, Commissioner Secretary, Finance, Sudhanshu Pandy, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism, Atul Dullo, Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Khajuria, representatives of J&K SIDCO and department of customs.
