Govt ignores loyal Congress workers: Abrol | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 28: Veteran Congress leader and PCC executive committee member K L Abrol today said that the "old and loyal" party workers had been totally ignored by the NC-Congress government as a result of which they were feeling isolated. In a meeting held here, he said it was wrong on the part of the government, especially Congress ministers, to ignore the old and loyal party workers. These workers had always worked to strengthen the party at the grassroot level, Abrol asserted. The PCC leader said if the party high command and PCC president Saifudin Soz did not take steps to give these loyal workers a respectable place, it could lead to the weakening of the party in the state. He said as the same circumstances prevailed in Congress during the 2008 assembly polls, the number of seats secured by the party had decreased by 10. Abrol urged UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to issue requisite directive to the senior state Congress leaders to give due respect to those who were with the party for the past four decades without any personal interest of theirs. He also urged her to take steps to strengthen the party in the state by bringing the two factions together. Abrol said the division of the party in two factions had also led to the division of loyal workers. This was not a good sign for the party, he felt. To perform better, the party ought to face people as a united house, he asserted.
