Salathia pleads for massive participation in Panchayat elections | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 28: Minister for Industries Surjeet Singh Salathia today laid foundation stone of an irrigation Tube-well at Trindian, in Vijaypur block to be dug up at a cost of Rs 40 Lakh. On completion nearly 80 to 100 acres of irrigation land will be irrigated. Addressing gathering after foundation, Minister said that the government is committed to upgrade the basic amenities for the people. He said that sufficient funds have been earmarked for the development of power and PHE sectors, adding that efforts are on to extend the reach of essential facilities to nook and corner of the state. Responding to the demands of the people, Minister directed to the concerned executing agency for construction and black topping of the approach road from Trindian to Shamshan-Ghat at the earliest as per requirement. Salathia said that under PHE, Power and Housing sectors, the government has launched several water supply schemes aimed at augmenting the drinking water supply. He said that wherever regular water supply schemes could not suffice the need of some Kandi areas, some bore well have been dug according to the availability of the water in respective areas. Earlier, he also visited in Khanpur where he was apprised about the problems of the people in the area. He assured that all problems of the people will be mitigated within stipulated time. He also appealed people of the area to strengthen the hands of the Government by participating at large scale in forth coming Panchayat elections and asked them to elect honest and dedicated representatives, who will address their development needs besides espouse their cases at different levels of the administration. Among others, XEN PHE, PDD and other officers of various departments accompanied Minster during the visit.
