Rajasansi, July 29: Eighty-nine more people from Punjab, including a women and children, landed at the Rajasansi Airport here today after being evacuated from the war-torn Lebanon.
The evacuees were first brought to Delhi by a special Air India plane from Larnaca in Cyprus where they reached this morning by an Indian Naval ship from Beirut, officials said.
They included from Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Sangrur Patiala, Hoshiarpur and Faridkot districts of Punjab a northern state of India, airport officials said.
All the Evacuees were given warm reception by the families of those who arrived on home soil safe, away from the air raids and bombardments of West Asia while the returnees thanked the Indian Navy and the government for the evacuation efforts.
Earlier on July 22, this year, the first batch of 54 people from Punjab, including women and children, arrived at the Rajasansi airport here from Mumbai after being evacuated from war-torn Lebanon.
