| Power tariff waiver for Kargil war dispplaced families | | | Jammu, November 12 The government has decided to wave off the power tariff of border migrants for the period they were displaced during the Kargil war .. This was decided at a high level meeting convened to review power scenario in Jammu division here today held under the Chairmanship of Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora. Minister of State for Power Peer Mohammad Hussain and legislators Mrs. Suman Lata Bhagat, Mr. Yogesh Sawhney, Ch. Gharu Ram and Mr. Sham Lal Sharma were also present in the meeting. Addressing the meeting Mr. Jora said that the displaced families of the border belts of the state would be asked to produce displacement certificate issued by the concern Tehsildars in order to get the relaxation in the power tariff.. The Minister said that government has taken several measures under various centrally and state sponsored schemes to improve the quality of power in the state. Responding to the points raised by the legislators regarding allocation of additional funds of Rs.2.61 crore for Jammu district under power sector, Mr. Jora said that additional funds would be arranged for the purpose. Mr. Jora directed the concerned engineers to consult Legislators of the respective areas while deciding the priority within the allocated funds. Earlier, the Legislators apprised about the problems regarding power in their respective areas and projected charters of demands which include replacement of worn out wires, rotten poles, improvement and augmentation of power distribution system, establishment of more grid and receiving stations and early completion of receiving stations at Sai and Danis gate. Among others, Chief Engineer Power, Jammu Mr. D. S. Pawar and senior engineers of the department also attended the meeting. |
