| Legal Metrology team inspects Autorickshaws | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 28: A team of legal metrology department under supervision of Assistant Controller M. A. Mughal, with the active cooperation of Traffic Police, Jammu inspected a number of Auto Rickshaws at Dogra Chowk, Jammu.
During inspection, 25 drivers were found plying their auto rickshaws with valid documents and verified fare meter. However, the operators were not using the fare-meter installed in the Auto Rickshaws and were warned to charge fare from the commuters as per fare-meter. Ten auto rickshaw drivers were booked for using unverified fare meter and without proper documents.
Moreover, the Taximeter unit of Legal Metrology department has collected a fee of Rs. 95,470 account of verification and calibrated fare of fare meters/tank lorries during the month of February, 2011. Department appeals to the auto rickshaw owners/ drivers to ply auto rickshaws on road only with proper documents and calibrated fare meter.
