Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 28: While Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is tweeting on buying a cheap and best LCD for his Delhi office, Babus and policewallas who are an integral part of his administration have dearth of similar gadgets and many more both in their palatial residences and intensively decorated official addresses.
Omar tweeted few days back that instead of purchasing a costly LCD, he would prefer purchasing a cheaper one since, according to him even cheap gadgets are the best. Thus the Chief Minister gave an indication of his preferring low profile lifestyle. But if reports published in this and other local dailies are taken into consideration, Babus and several police officers have assets worth several crores.
These reports indicate that not only senior police officers but even those of extremely junior ranks and IAS Babus have been making money through the sources best known to them. These confirm that they have grabbed thousands of Kanals of land across the state. Much to the dismay, no probe has been ordered, no officer has been questioned and no one has been suspended from the service.
Further, a local newspaper recently reported that a senior officer of the state has two palatial houses and has married twice. Besides, the newspaper report stated that he has fudged his date of birth certificate to increase years in service. It went to the extent of claiming that an extremely low level police officer has managed to grab several kanals of land in and around Jammu city.
A report published in another local daily around two years ago claimed that several Babus and policewallas possess costly gadgets, are living in palatial residences and construct building worth several crores immediately after their retirement. Several complaints are pending with state vigilance organisation and even Crime Branch.
