| J&K Bank enters semis of Rajiv Football | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, March 01: Outplaying Jammu Sports-A in a one-sided contest, the professional side of Jammu and Kashmir Bank today sailed into the semi-finals of the Ist Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament underway at GGM Science College ground, here.
Playing directly in the quarterfinals, Bank blanked the local club making it a 5-0 win this afternoon. The hapless Jammu Sports-A had no answer to Bank’s well planned moves and struggled throughout the 70-minute game.
Star striker, Intikhab Alam struck the first blood netting the ball in the fourth minute of the game. It was followed by second goal coming through Zubair Ahmed in the 11th minute. Rizwan scored third goal of the match in the 20th minute thus providing Bank a clear edge helping it make 3-0 lead at the end of first half play.
Later, goal-keeper skipper, Vikramjeet Singh (66th) and Johny Kumar (68th) added one goal each to make it a 5-0 one-sided contest.
Today’s match was officiated by Muzzaffar, Hilal, Farooq and Gagan Kumar.
