| Question Hour in LC | | FIR lodged against substandard fertilizer manufacture: Slathia | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 1: Minister for Industries and Commerce, S. S. Slathia on behalf of Agriculture Minister today said an FIR has been registered against the manufacturer who is making substandard fertilizer in the Kashmir valley. He said that any other unit holder found in this malpractice, action would be taken against him as per the law. Minister was replying to a question by Bashir Magray in Legislative Council. He said the agriculture department being the licensing authority has the powers to enforce quality of the product. Ravinder Kumar raised supplementary to the question. Meanwhile, Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjeet Singh Slathia today said that 11 stone crushers are running in Zewan area and no such proposal is under consideration of the government to shift them somewhere else near the foothills. This information was given by the Minister in reply to a question by Ghulam Qadir Pardesi in Legislative Council today. Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today informed the House that the growth of tax collection is 20 percent this year despite longest unrest in the valley during last summer. He said that state government was appreciated by Planning Commission of India on realization of tax in the state. Minister was replying to a question by Abdul Gani Vakil in the Legislative Council today. He said 98 percent registered dealers of the state are admitted tax payer. Regarding steps taken by the government to recover the taxes from defaulters, the Minister said that once the tax due become arrears, the process of recovery is initiated through collector (Recovery) who initiates action under the J&K VAT Act 2005 / J&K GST Act, 1962 read with J&K Land Revenue Act, Samvat 1996.
