3/2/2011 12:00:40 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 1: Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) has termed allocation of Rs 150 crore for development in Jammu region, by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, in the budget for 2011-12 as eyewash.
This amount is even much less than proposed by the committee constituted by central government for infrastructural development in Jammu and Ladakh. Committee had earlier proposed grant of Rs 497 crore for Jammu province, to make good its economic neglect by the state and central governments in the past.
This was stated by President of JPPF Thakur Paviter Singh in a handout issued here today. Forum further referred to Prime Minister’s announcement in the Lok Sabha recently of providing one lakh jobs to unemployed in Kashmir and asked the Prime Minister to clarify whether these jobs would be meant exclusively for Kashmiris or will be equitably distributed among the youth in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Forum further condemned excessive use of force by police against agricultural technocrats holding protest demonstration. It also assailed government’s apathetic attitude towards physiotherapists, agro technocrats, physical education trained teachers and others from Jammu, who have been agitating for getting jobs. Others who attended the meeting included Inderjeet Khajuria, Narayan Singh, Yash Pal Gupta, V.P.Sharma, M.L Sharma, Uday Chand, Kuldeep Luthra, Gajan Singh, Virender Jain, Bhatia, Bhagat, Dev Raj Badu, Pawan Gupta, Amrit Mangotra and Gajan Singh.
