First Day First Show | Parents take day off, accompany wards to exams venue | | Mishu Gupta EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March 1 Anxiety loomed large on the faces of parents as their children took the first paper of CBSE Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) examination which began today. Students appeared for their English Exam About 44981 students are appearing for the 10+2 annual examinations for which the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has set up about 443 centres across the division. Anxious parents could be seen queuing up outside various examination centres since early this morning. Though the scheduled time for the three-hour examination to begin was 1.30 am, parents preferred to reach the venue of examination well before time to ensure that their wards did last-minute revisions. Today being the first day of examination, many parents skipped their offices to be with their children to provide the much-needed moral support. Many teachers, too, were present outside the centres to wish their students good luck. At many centres, numerous parents waited till the end of the exam. Most of the students began the day by paying obeisance at religious places and also, taking the blessings of their teachers. Swati, who took the English paper today, said, “My mother gave me curd to eat before I left home as it is considered auspicious. Then, we both went to the nearby temple.” As the bell indicated the end of the examination, the anxiety of parents waiting outside the examination centre reached its zenith. It was only after interacting with their wards that they looked satisfied. An elated parent, Asha Nanda, said, “I was glad to know that the paper was easy and children were happy. I was relaxed when my son told me that he had attempted all questions in the English paper.” When the examination ended, there were massive traffic jams outside various examination centers, causing inconvenience to a lot of commuters. Meanwhile, a number of students expressed satisfaction over the questions asked in the paper and termed the paper “quite easy”. On the day one of the start of higher secondary (10+2) annual examinations in Jammu Division today, Minister for Education and Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed visited various examination centres in Jammu city to inspect the arrangements made by the authorities for ensuring smooth conduct of the exams. During the inspection, Peerzada interacted with the students and staff and inquired about the arrangements made by the authorities for ensuring smooth conduct of exams. The Minister was told that for the first time the BOSE has introduced 3 series of question papers as a step for curbing the menace of copying and other unfair means. Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, the Education Minister appreciated the BOSE authorities for introducing effective exam reforms, including introduction of three series of question papers. Secretary BOSE, Dr Shiekh Bashir Ahmed, Joint Secretary BOSE, Dr Renu Goswami, Director Education, Mr. G. A Qureshi, Principal Govt HSS Rehari Mr Sudan and other officers of BOSE and School Education Department accompanied the minister.
