| Differences surface in NC ? | | | Jammu, November 12 Main Opposition party National Conference on Sunday came close to near split following intense power struggle within two factions of the Jammu unit. The differences came to the fore for the first time between supporters of Pronvicial President Jammu Ajay Sadhotra and another party leader Jagjit Singh Jagga at the behest of few vested interests in the party. Sources privy to political developments within NC told Kashmir Independent Press late on Sunday evening that Ajay Sadhotra may also take the extreme step of resigning from his post or from the membership of the party on Monday if party high command failed to act in time.Sadhotras opponents were already projecting Jagjit Singh Jagga as his possible replacement during the next Assembly elections The trouble started around Sunday afternoon when NC Patron Dr Farooq Abdullah reached Jhiri mela and participated in a programme organized by Jagjit Singh Jagga despite reservations by Sadhotra. Sources in the party said that Sadhotra had also advised Dr Farooq Abdullah not to attend the function as he saw virtual threat to his position within the party following close proximity between Jagjit Singh and Dr Abdullah. But when Dr Abduallah did reach Jhiri Sadhotra decided to come out in the open and expressed his reservations which were not taken seriously forciong him to take tough stand. On several other occasions differences between both the leaders had surfaced threatening unity of the party. But serious developments throughout Sunday has for the first time raised question marks on the future of the party especially in Jammu following possibility of ouster of Ajay Sadhotra, one of the tallest leader of NC from Jammu region. It may be mentioned that not long ago a female corporator of the party had alleged in public that Provincial President of the party Ajay Sadhotra was conspiring against her to remove her from the party following her complaints in police at the behest of Jagjit Singh Jagga. |
