J&K Forest wins in tie-breaker to enter semis | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 02: Jammu and Kashmir Forest trounced Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 6-4 in tie-breaker to reach the semi-finals of the ongoing Ist Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament at GGM Science College ground, here. Tied at 2-2 in the stipulated time, Forest XI proved to be better in penalties thereby won the crucial tie against another departmental team. Earlier, CRPF took the first lead when Sudesh netted the ball in 21st minute of the match. However, the lead was equalized by Zameer Hussain of Forest in the 39th minute. Levelled at 1-1, both sides put in great efforts to take first lead, but success eluded them. It was only in the 61st minute that CRPF again went ahead with MD Waseem scoring the goal, but only to find Waseem Yousuf bringing in an equalizer in the 72nd minute. Later, in tie-breaker, Shahnawaz, Anus Gill, Ujwair Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed successfully converted their penalties into goal. On the other hand, CRPF could not do well and only Gurvinder Singh and Jasvinder Singh succeeded in their attempts on the net. Now, in the semi-final, to be played on March four, J&K Forest shall take on Churchill Brothers. Today’s match were officiated by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Rajesh Sumbria, Moon Stephen and Gagan Kumar
