| Mismanagement sends Kathua Drainage construction into rough weather | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kathua Mar 2: The construction work on the covered drain being done on the cost Rs. 1.50 crore under UDISSMT scheme from Shiva Nagar to Ravi canal has been stopped by the people of the Shiva Nagar Kathua for terming it
to be unplanned and of low grade quality work and has demanded the immediate investigation by vigilance organization.
People has resented that the biggest bungling is in this work with the collaboration of Town drainage department Jammu. Moreover people have accused the Town Drainage Department for not carrying the further construction in proper and planned way and the people of the area are suffering from the various hurdles and problems
due to the negligence of departm ent.
They said that the town drainage department has sanctioned this deep drainage project of 1.50 crore rupees on the name of professional contractor who is National Conference leader namely Davinder Singh
(Bindu) who has further sublet the work to a local man and the local man has further sublet the work to other man down the line. They said that this deep covered drainage is 1500 meters in length and
to be constructed from Shiva Nagar to Ravi Canal Kathua. All the construction work of deep covered drainage is being done with sub standard material and in the absence of concerned technical JEs
and supervisors.
They said that town drainage department has two JEs for this project and they come from Jammu occasionally and due to this negligence of the town drainage department the contractors are using the low
standard material and doing the work on their own choice. The lamenting people also accused the municipal committee of Kathua for not adopting the good small drainage connectivity with this deep
covered drainage which is also causing major problems to the people and the work is delaying and proved ineffective till date. According to the sources the 26 crore rupees has been sanctioned under
UDISSMT scheme to town drainage department for the development of Kathua drainage system but till date this department has not even opened its sub office in the town and no alternative left for the
people to complain and to deal with the official regarding the development.
The DC Kathua Zahidha Khan has said that she had no knowledge about this big project of covered deep drainage of 1 .50 crore from Shiva Nagar to Ravi canal.
The people urged the state Government to carry out the investigation over the negligent role of DC Kathua in the connection of bungling in the construction work of 1500 mtr of Covered Deep Drain of cost Rs.
1.50 crore under UDISSMT scheme from Shiva nagar to Ravi canal. .Parlad Singh, S. Kameljeet Singh, Mohinder Pal, Kamal Kishore, Raj Kumar, Baljit Singh, S. Muqtiar Singh, Angrez and others were thoses
who complained about this mismanagement
