CITU welcomes enhancement in Anganwari workers’ wages | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 2: State Committee of CITU congratulates the All India Federation of Anganwari Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH) affiliated with CITU under whose banner Anganwari workers with their sustain struggle compelled the government to enhance their wages as declared by the Union Finance Minister while tabling the budget 2011. Increase in wages of Anganwari Workers declared in budget 2011 is the product of constant struggle of AIFAWH. The AIFAWH which have more than seven lakh members held a series of protests/agitations in support of their genuine demands from time to time. It is the result of relentless struggle on part of the Anganwari Workers. But it is sad as to say that this declaration in budget is insufficient as AIFAWH has also continuously demanded in its aforesaid struggles such as regularization of Anganwari Workers and Helpers in grade 3rd and grade 4th posts, minimum wages as paid to skilled and unskilled workers, linking of their wages with AU India Consumer Price Index, providing pension and gratuity benefits, annual increment, free medical treatment, selection of supervisors among the Anganwari Workers etc. The state committee of CITU expressed its grave concern for not declaring any enhancement in the wages of ASHA workers in Budget 2011.
