2 killed, 18 hurt in road mishaps | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 02: In unconnected road mishaps, a sports teacher and a BSF cop were killed and 18 others wounded across the state since Tuesday. Vijay Kumar, a sports teacher in government higher secondary school, Chenani, was wounded Tuesday morning after his scooty was hit by a truck at Bali Nullah in Udhampur. He was admitted to hospital where he died today, police sources said. BSF cop was killed and nine others were wounded when a truck in which they were travelling skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Balakote in Mendhar, Poonch. The mishap occured when the truck carrying 14 BSF personnel of 76 Bn was on its way to its headquarter from Rajouri. The dead was identified as cop Mohammed Ruksar of Surankote. The injured were hospitalised. Four persons escaped unhurt. In a head-on collision between a truck (JK14B/1308) and a Maruti car (JK02N/4941) at Nandini about 23 km from here on Jammu-Udhampur road, five person’s sustained wounds. The injured were identified as Kuldeep Kumar, Rakesh Mehra, Sunny Mehra, Shri Chander and Mohammad Kaleen, all residents of Bikram Chowk. All of them were travelling in the car. They were hospitalised. Police had registered a case in this connection. A Tata Sumo (JK04-7872) and a tipper (JK01-7692) collided at Mazhama near Magam in Budgam, Kashmir, as a result of which Nazir Ahmad Teli of Tangmarg, Ghulam Mohiudin of Ganigani, Tangmarg, and Abdul Salam Lone of Ferozpora, Tangmarg were hurt. The injured were hospitalized and the vehicles were seized by police. An unknown Maruti car, on way from Tangmarg to Chandloora, hit and injured Mohammad Iqbal Dar of Hanjibal at Chandloora. ‘’’
