| Militant killed, soldier wounded in Tral encounter | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Mar 2 : A fierce encounter that ensued between militants and security forces in south Kashmir left a militants dead and a soldier seriously wounded.
According to reports, militants fired upon a patrol party at Dadsar, Tral in Pulwama district last evening. The security forces, however, did not retaliate immediately.
Reports said the 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) along with police and Special Operation Group personnel laid a siege of the area and in the process two militants reportedly got trapped in a residential house. Unconfirmed reports said that this house belongs to one Gulzar Ahmed Mir, an employee in Power Department.
A militant whose identity could not be immediately ascertained got killed today. A soldier also sustained injuries. He was rushed to hospital.
Two residential houses suffered damage in the exchange of fire.
