Police plan leaked, gangster stays away from trap | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 02: Following the leakage of a police plan, an extortioner, who was to collect money from a businessman at marble market here, did not turn up. SHOs of Bakshi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Gangyal police stations waited in private cars at marble market Tuesday evening along with over a dozen cops and the businessman, but gangster Munna did not come, police sources said. Sources said Munna had been demanding money from Varun Mahajan of Gangyal for the past few days. After police came to know about the matter, they approached Varun and asked him to call Munna to the marble market to collect money. When Munna agreed, policemen in mufti fanned out in the area and laid a trap to lay hands on him, but he did not appear on the scene as the whole plan was leaked to him. He even called Varun on his mobile phone and threatened him of dire consequences for approaching police. The baffled police were now trying to find out how their plan was leaked to the gangster. Though police raided his suspected hideouts in the city and its peripheral areas last night and today, he could not be apprehended, the sources added. Munna was wanted by almost every police station in the winter capital city in incidents of extortion and other cases. He was also involved in an incident of firing at Reshamghar Colony few days back. He was arrested by Pucca Danga police some time back and handed over to Gangyal police. However, after he was bailed out by a court, he went underground. Cops were also deployed outside Varun's residence at Gangyal for his protection. Sources said raids were being conducted at his possible hideouts to arrest him.
