Question Hour | Crash barriers installed on 18 km road to avoid accidents: Akhoon | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 3: Minister for Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon has said that in order to avert road accidents on Batote-Kishtwar national highway crash barriers have been installed on about 18 kilometers road length by beacon authorities. Minister was replying to a question by Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo in the Legislative Assembly here today. He said that as many as 12 buses of JKSRTC have been pressed into service for operation in district Kishtwar which includes bus service between Kishtwar-Jammu, Kishtwar-Srinagar and vice-versa. Giving details of road accidents taken place during last three years on Batote and Kishtwar roads, the Minister informed the House that in all 652 road accidents took place between Batote-Kishtwar and other link roads of the area. Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo, G.M. Saroori, Vaqar Rasool, Ashok Sharma, Sharief Niaz and Tarigami raised supplementaries on the question. Minister said that several measures have been initiated by the Government for smooth plying of traffic in the area. He said over-loading of passenger vehicles are being checked by the concerned authorities often add that constituting of House and expert committees for making improvement in smooth plying of transport in the area would also remain fruitful for government to take new initiatives. ard.
