JUTA seeks intervention of PM to get University land vacated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 3: Office bearers of Jammu University Teachers’ Association (JUTA), under the Chairmanship of Prof. Daleep Singh Jamwal President had an emergency meeting wherein the office bearers unanimously decided to urge Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is visiting Jammu University on Friday to intervene and get vacated the university land vacated. The land is presently under the occupation of army. Office bearers in the meeting were of the opinion that a large chunk of the university land is under the occupation of the army and the university is facing a lot of problem as non availability of adequate space has hampered expansion plans of the university. To bring the faculty resource of the state at par with the national standards, JUTA, also sought personal intervention of the Prime Minister for the release of 80 percent of the central grant from the Ministry of the HRD for the settlement of arrears of the teachers of the universities of the state on account of the Sixth Pay Commission Recommendation for which the required papers have already been submitted by the State government. Those who were present in the meeting include: Dr. Prakash Chand(Vice-President), Dr. Vinay Chauhan (Secretary), Dr.Jaspal Singh (Treasurer).
