| Separatist group splits in J and K | | |
SRINAGAR, NOV 12 A senior leader of Democratic Political Movement (dpm), a constituent of hardline faction of Hurriyat conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, today revolted against the party Chairman Firdous Ahmad Shah and announced his sacking.
However, Shah claimed complete control over the separatist organisation and said the rebel Syed Bashir Ahmad Indrabi was dismissed from the party's primary membership.
In a statement, Indrabi said he was unanimously elected as chairman of the organisation after a meeting of the office bearers of the organisation which was convened to discuss the "dictitorial" attitude of Shah.
The meeting decided to continue its support to Geelani's faction of Hurriyat, the statement said.
However, another statement of the organisation said a meeting under the chairmanship of Shah discussed the "anti-party" activities of Indrabi and decided to expell him from primary membership after charging him with violating the constitution of the party.
Commenting on the developments within DPM, sources in the organisation said the party has split between Indrabi and Shah
