'Jagti Chalo' march foiled | Protesting refugees detained in Jammu | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 3 : Heavy deployment of police and the security forces today foiled refugees’ ‘Jagti Chalo’ march ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to this winter capital, tomorrow. The refugees demanding citizenship rights and flats at par with the displaced Kashmiri Hindu migrants were cane charged and detained later under preventive measures ahead of Prime Minister’s visit. Led by the SoS International-refugees’ organization of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), hundred of refugees this morning assembled at Bikram Chowk and blocked the Tawi Bridge by staging demonstration. .Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protestors while around six refugees, including the SoS chairman Rajiv Chunni were detained on the spot. ‘’The detention has been made under preventive measures ahead of Prime Minister’s visit,’’ a police official here told . During his day-long stay, Dr Singh besides inspecting around 4,000 flats at Jagti, would also take part in the convocation of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and meet Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, various delegations
